Middle Plaza

  • Menlo Park, California
  • Stanford University

Located along Menlo Park’s El Camino Real corridor, an arterial central to the City’s makeup, identity and livelihood, Middle Plaza transforms formerly underutilized parcels owned by Stanford University.

Enhancing the El Camino Real gateway corridor, Middle Plaza is a for-rent apartment community providing housing prioritized for university faculty and staff first, followed by healthcare staff and city employees. Within walking distance of the Caltrain station, downtown civic center, public library and Burgess Park, Middle Plaza supports the identified activity node by introducing urban housing and ground floor retail to redefine the corridor’s street edge character and pedestrian-friendly appeal. A half-acre publicly accessible plaza also sits between the housing and commercial.

In working closely with the community, a traditional California Craftsman style inspired the preferred architectural direction. Extensive community amenities include two community room spaces, a smaller one with access to the interior courtyard and the larger one fronting onto the main street. A separate meeting room area, dedicated co-working space with private office pods, and a small conference room with access to an outdoor patio provide a variety of individual study and group work environments. Outdoor amenities include a pool and spa, multiple outdoor fireplaces and lounge areas, a fitness center with outdoor space, yoga room, and a rooftop deck.
